The Story of Saturday
I spent a total of about 40 minutes at my computer yesterday, so I was unfortunately unable to make any sort of update. Here's what went down.
I woke up around 9 AM so that I could shower, dress and get out of here in time for breakfast at 10. All went well on that front, and I made it to Lakeside by 10:30 for a 10:45 call. We warmed up for the game and marched in for pregame.
The game was an utter disaster. The Dukes lost 28-3, failing even to score a touchdown before a not-even-sold-out Bridgeforth Stadium crowd. Unfortunately, it was also a televised game, so it took about 50% longer for us to get our asses beaten than usual. Happily, the halftime and postgame shows were great ("The Best Ever," proclaimed Dr. Rooney, which is saying quite a bit considering how much we sucked last Tuesday).
Following the game, I walked back to my room, where I promptly (and unintentionally) fell asleep for somewhere between 90 and 120 minutes. Waking up, I found that it was nearly time for Rush Hour 2, so I quickly showered, dressed, and Dan & I went out for dinner.
Rush Hour 2 was a triumph of the action-hilarity genre. What amazed me most was how 'real' the fight scenes looked; not choreographed at all. Well worth the $2 I paid, even if the projectionist left a little to be desired (almost the entire movie was framed badly, and there was one noticeably bad reel-switch).
After Rush Hour 2, Dan, Amanda & I went to Karen's & Erin's place to play Cranium, a game I had never before heard of. It was well worth it, as we pretty much dominated the game and had a great time doing it. Didn't get out of there until around 12:30, and I came back here and fell asleep.
All I have to say about the World Series is that I have a really good feeling about the Diamondbacks tonight. I suppose I should know better, because the Yankees will probably win, but I really feel that this will be a classic, and the Diamondbacks have a legitimate shot. Unfortunately, I have to work until 10 PM; thank God for ESPN Gamecast!
