Georgia Avenue is the shit!
Yeah, so it was a Better Than Ezra show, but I'm going to spend some time talking about the great Georgia Avenue.
First, Finger of Shame to almost the entire crowd during GA's opening set. The JMU curse strikes again, with an all but dead crowd, even as GA did everything in the book to get them on their feet. Damn shame. Get over to Georgia Avenue's website and download a few mp3s. They rule.
I can't call Better Than Ezra anything other than extremely entertaining. Opening the set with Misunderstood, they segued into a rendition of Good that really took me back. Other sing-along-ables like At the Stars, Extra Ordinary, and Sincerely, Me got the crowd moving (finally). Personal highlights of the night were A Lifetime and Recognize (yeah, Amanda!).
BTE also littered the set with quasi-covers interspersed with their own tunes, including I Wanna Be Sedated, You Really Got Me, and Don't Fear the Reaper.
Spoke to Jeff of Georgia Avenue after the show, and was told it was nice to see someone in the crowd singing along. Alright :)
Holy crap, it's almost midnight. I have to go to work soon, so I'm going to go read a bit of Harry Potter and pass out.
