Domain troubles

First thing in my inbox this morning is from my mom. "No aardvark this morning. How sad." So I try to access my own site; doesn't work. "Surely they didn't shut off port 80 on me," I think, worried momentarily that the bandwidth police were out to get me. But when I thought about it, I realized that this site uses very little bandwidth (peak usage: a few megs per day). I tried just using the IP address, and it worked fine. So I tried to access my DNS provider, but that wasn't available.

I'm not entirely sure how DNS works, but I had thought it was redundant. If it is, it's apparently not redundant enough, because it's not working now. I'll look into the matter and see if I can get it resolved, but you get what you pay for, and my DNS provider is free. So we'll see.
