Christmas Break Update, Part 1
Disclaimer: If I neglect to mention something, and you were a part of it, don't write me and complain. I have a hard enough time remembering what I did yesterday, and I did most of this stuff almost a month ago. Thanks for your understanding.
Christmas Break began on December 14. That night (I think, I know it was sometime early on in vacation) mom made pot roast. Yum yum, real food. The next day was Amy's bowling (she averages close to 130...she's going to start beating me soon). That afternoon was the firehouse Christmas Party, and I got the opportunity to sit and chat with lots of people I hadn't seen since Wildwood (or longer). I also gave out the address for this site quite a bit, so if anyone out there is a new visitor, welcome!
Sunday & Monday were largely blown off (vacation!), and Tuesday I worked. That night I also went bowling with Mom, Aunt Sue & Dan; that sure was weird, but we had a great time.
Wednesday was the premiere of Lord of the Rings, so I took Amy out of school early and we drove to the Palisades Center for lunch. The movie lived up to all my expectations; I am now eagerly anticipating The Two Towers, whose release is only 48 weeks away!
Thursday and Friday were to be spent working again, but I was somehow infected with the worst sore throat I have ever had in my life. Picture swallowing bees...no, bees are too cuddly. Picture swallowing bees doused in lighter fluid...hmm, still not the image I'm going for. How about, burning bees that shoot laser death rays out their eyes? Yeah, that'll work. For 48 hours, I had burning bees with laser death rays swarming in my throat, one of the worst illness-related experiences of my life. Fortunately I discovered the joys of Vicks Chloraseptic spray and was able to at least douse the fire and reduce the burning bees with laser death rays to simple bees with laser death rays.
Saturday, December 22, was spent with family at the theater seeing "Snow White Goes West." Afterward, we went out to lunch, getting a chance to hang out with some people I hadn't seen since the big family reunion in Georgia.
In part 2: Christmas lasts three days, and the Magic Bus rolls. To be continued...
