This.site
I've been thinking a lot about maximumaardvark.com lately, especially what it is today compared to what I thought it would be when it was born. My original intention with this site was to have an easily accessible place where I could play with various web technologies for my own sake. PHP, MySQL, some light CSS. All I needed was some content.
So I created a table in the site database that I called 'journal'. And I started writing. And writing. And writing about writing. And so on.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped playing with the things I expected to play with. I've fallen into the trap of "Well, the site works. Not really the way I want it to, or as well as I want it to, but it serves the purpose. Good enough." I look at maximumaardvark.com now as a pure weblog (if that's even possible; is the term "weblog" well-defined enough to warrant calling something a "pure weblog?").
On a separate front, I'm taking a course on multimedia design. Wednesday was a lecture about the Model-View-Controller pattern. And I found new life in my desire to experiment.
CSS makes MVC on the web possible. It's the Right Way to do things. Maybe someday soon I will.
