A Weekend of Mediocrity

Live, from Newman Library at lovely Virginia Polytechnical and State University for Rejects of UVA, an update on the ACUI happenings for the weekend.

Found out last night that we're not bowling on campus. Neither are we bowling in Blacksburg, or neighboring Christiansburg. No, we're bowling in Salem, VA, which is a 50 minue drive from our hotel on the VT campus. We were told by Shari, our "event coordinator," (coordinate this!), that we had to take one of the three shuttles (capacity: 9 apiece) designated for the over 170 bowlers, even though we currently have three vans sitting in the parking lot. Shari sucks.

Last night was the no-tap tournament in the VT rec center, and it started pretty well for me, with a 232. Time came for the announcement of the first- and second-place winners for the first game, and it turned out I won a $15 gift certificate to a nearby Greek restaurant! Oh, wait...no, I misread that. AJ Schuster was actually in third place, so he actually gets nothing. Thanks, tournament director; check your facts before making any announcements next time. The rest of the night was a write-off for me (maybe my spirits were just crushed), but Corey & Laura took first- and second-place in the third game and both walked away with some money.

Bowling today wasn't even close to funny. Morning series of 166-191-165-522 followed up with a 165-180-210-555. I was pleased to close with a 200, but how I increased on the day will never be clear to me. A 179 average on the day; lovely. At least we had fun, and we're currently not in last!

Going back to the hotel now, have no idea what's going on for dinner tonight. Need bed!
