Web Design

I'm amazed at how interested I've gotten in web design lately. I recall the days of the 3.0 browser wars, when the next beta of IE was worth waiting up until 3 AM on IRC for (even when it turned out that, actually, it won't be released tonight). I recall downloading each successive beta of IE 4.0, where the big deal was channels but what really mattered was the first cursory support for CSS. I recall writing vaucous, contentless sites that utilized bleeding-edge technologies, both standard and proprietary.

I recall how cool it was to make letters write on top of each other. I recall worshipping Paul Thurrott as a God of site design. I recall creating--and subscribing to--my own channels.

Then I got bored. Things didn't work right, and I got frustrated. I didn't have any server space (and I certainly couldn't afford any) to experiment with server-side toys. So I didn't do any site design for awhile.

Enter MaximumAardvark.com. I have Rohan, a testbed for anything I want. I have plenty of computer time, not sharing it with any family members. And I love it. I love reading about CSS, XHTML, making things work, making things look nice, designing effective layouts.

And I love blogging.
