Perks

Working as a lab assistant gives me privileges that no one else has. As an example, if most other people on campus need to get out of their room for awhile to do work, they relegate themselves to the library or a study lounge. I, on the other hand, can take control of the Hillside Lab Assistant office for the day and do my work here.

With Dan sick, a ridiculously hot dorm room, and a fair amount of work on my plate for the weekend, I've spent much of the day so far holed up in the office. Remote SSH and VNC sessions to my computers in my room keep me connected with what I need to be connected with, and I brought a stack of CDs and my hardcore headphones to tune out the rest of the world. It's worked well so far, as I've finished almost half of the items on my list.
