« April Fools Watch | Dave Chappelle »

NY Mets: 1-0

A good start for the Mets this year. Notes from the game (I watched it on tape delay):

  • Lots of strikeouts today from the usual suspects: Vaughn and Burnitz. Alomar came through with a hit when it counted.
  • How about Fonzie? Great opening day for him, though what was up with that dropped foul ball in the 9th? I suppose a fan might have yelled "I got it" or something...
  • Payton crushed that ball. That shot landed in PiazzaLand.
  • Benitez walked the first batter of the ninth, and he eventually came around to score. Is anyone surprised? Fortunately, it didn't matter.
  • Weathers pitched great in relief of Leiter, who also had a solid outing.

I haven't looked around the rest of the league yet; I'll do a full-fledged opening day recap tomorrow. For now, I need to study for awhile then get ready for Dave Chappelle at Wilson Hall!
