Feel The Burn
Mark Pilgrim's recent entry discussing exercise (which, in turn, linked to a not-so-recent entry) linked to the government's BMI Calculator, and I entered my relevant info for shits and giggles. Turned out, I have a BMI of about 25.8, which is on the low-end of what the government classifies "overweight". He also linked to The Hacker's Diet, which I read (almost) in its entirety at work this morning.
When I got to Microeconomics on the other side of campus this afternoon, I noticed that I was out of breath. Walking back, I realized, again, that I was out of breath. I decided to give this Hacker's Diet thing a try.
I tried the Hacker's exercise regimen for a few weeks last summer and actually remember progressing a few rungs. I forgot about it once I got back to school in August, though, and basically hadn't thought about it since. I started over tonight, on rung 1, and completed it with a minimum of fuss. I'll stick around there for a few days and see what happens.
I also went to Kmart and bought a scale.
I don't have any intention of cutting back on food yet; I want to monitor my weight for at least two weeks and at least see what the trend is. Am I gaining weight? Am I losing weight? Am I stable? After that, I'll consider taking the plunge.
Karen and I also have vowed to exercise this summer. Together. So, even if I get nothing else out of this, we can at least be sure that we hang out every day.

Hey AJ:
I know what you are talking about all too well. Getting in shape is a goal I’d like to pursue myself; maybe you’d be interested in going to UREC together sometimes to exercise/work out/play raquetball/etc.?
Let me know.
