PMB Recap
Got to Starr Hill at around 9:10 to see Kristen, Dena, Avi and Fetus hanging outside. "The show sold out. We need two tickets." -Kristen and Dena. Wonderful; maybe we'll be spending the show on the sidewalk. But within ten minutes, some people show up with extras and Kris and Dena get hooked up. We enter.
The venue is incredibly tiny; Avi said only 300 people. The stage is over in a corner, away from everything, and very small. This could be interesting.
We hang out until Graham Colton comes on, and we weren't impressed all that much (at least, Dan and I weren't). Their drummer and vocalist seem to be clones of each other, though.
We were standing directly in front of a couple that seemed to have just met and were...umm, enjoying each other's company a bit too much. We plotted various ways to drive them from our vicinity, including just staring at them, or asking to join in. Dan had the best idea: "Walk up to them, stare at them until they stop, and say 'Can I get winner?'"
PMB came on around 11 or 11:15 (I had taken off my watch). I failed to write a setlist, but it was something along the lines of:
Save Me
Athens
You and I
Must Have Been
Lost
Pride > Pinball Wizard (!)
Never Around
Haven't Seen (trio)
Walking in Memphis (!)
Can't Miss
Shady
Missing
Rebecca > No Wo
No encore due to unfortunate curfew issues, and I may have missed a song in there. Pinball Wizard kicked ass, and I haven't seen Walking In Memphis since my first PMB concert back in May 2000.
I couldn't have asked for a better birthday. To all that were there, hanging out with me, I thank you. To the band, I thank you. See you guys back out there real soon.
