Let Down
I feel like I'm back in 1996. Final day of the NHL season, the Devils have a game against the Ottawa Senators. They need two points from a basement-dweller to qualify for the eighth seed in the playoffs. I don't recall the score, but I believe that it may have been a shutout. The Stanley Cup Champion Devils couldn't put away a crappy team to qualify for the playoffs.
While I don't mean to compare the Hurricanes to the Ottawa teams of the mid-90s, there is no excuse for the Devils losing in the first round this year. The regular season is meaningless; only the playoffs matter. I feel like I'm back in 1996.
