Work

I was discussing my next project at work today (i.e. how would I solve such and such a problem), and it looks like a web-based, database driven tool is in order. Web programming rules, though it's hard to set up a test environment when all I have to work with is Windows 98. Spent a couple hours today installing everything that I feel I'll need: cygwin, apache, mySQL, PHP, Perl, assorted text editors, help files, and a few extra browsers for testing purposes. Once I have an actual framework, I'll have to find some sort of production box and port it all over to Windows 2000 (or, even better, some sort of *nix).

One of the coolest things I've noticed in the past couple days is how often I think to myself, "This would be so much easier if I had a Linux box to work with."
