The Strike Is Off

Just got a phone call from Mom. It seems that the negotiating team from the Union was in session until 7:30 AM this morning. They came out for a general meeting at 8 AM with an agreement where the hospital gets, as mom said, nothing. Apparently my numbers in my previous entry were a bit off; the differentials were closer to $4-$8. The agreement made today calls for an across-the-board raise of $3 this year and 5% next year, a tremendous victory. In addition, the hospital agreed to institute certain staffing ratios on some floors.

Now she can go buy a new cordless phone.
