Exercise

I've been trying for some time now to lose some weight and, more generally, get in shape. I've had various degrees of success with the four words that I have reduced my plan to: eat less, move more.

Since I've gotten home from school, the rate of my weight loss has dropped precipitously. Once I hit the 10-pound mark, I hovered for a week or so, then started putting some weight back on. It was disappointing at first, but I have since remembered that, in any diet, there are plateaus to be dealt with. I have also realized that, since I no longer walk several miles daily to and from class, I move quite a bit less than I did in April. I must compensate for this somehow.

To that end, I have approached the exercise portion of my diet with renewed vigor. I have reached the seventh rung in the introductory ladder and started up again on my plan to do some jogging.

Today, however, may have been the worst possible day to pick up jogging again, as the thermometer easily topped 90 for the first time this season. Just the same, I drove to Wood Dale Park after dinner and walked/ran around the 1/2 mile outer-loop three times. I don't recall the last time I sweat as much as I did this evening, but I feel great. And I think I can keep it up.
