Vacation Recap

I really slacked off on writing the last third of my vacation, so here's a quick recap, then I'll get back in my regular-irregular schedule of updating.

Great Adventure ruled. Nitro has surpassed the Great American Scream Machine as my favorite coaster of all time; Amy and I rode it five times. And you haven't lived until you've ridden Nitro in pitch blackness.

We were on the beach almost every day. I love the beach. And, oddly enough, I am tan. Usually I just turn a deep shade of pink bordering on red, then turn back to my don't-look-directly-at-my-torso shade of white fairly quickly.

Amy got her ear pierced. Through the cartilage. Quite a trooper, for a twelve-year old.

Book reports: Total Recall was slow to start, but wound up being better than the movie, the collection of Ellison essays was enjoyable, and the quasi-Clancy I picked up was disappointing and predictable. I'm almost done with Foundation and am enjoying it, but wish I didn't need to discover entirely new characters every thirty pages. I suppose a trilogy that spans 1000 years necessitates it.

The Lakewood Blueclaws game on Thursday night was a lot of fun, considering the tickets we had ordered were actually for the Wednesday game (no, we didn't realize this until Thursday). Amy and I scored a pair of free tickets directly behind the visitors' dugout while Mom, Dad and Aunt Sue sat on the grass out in left field.

Aunt Sue attended her first concert (Pat McGee Band, Granian, Under New Ownership) since seeing the Rolling Stones at MSG in 1968! Fun show.
