The Weekend
I've had unusually small amounts of sleep for the past five days and not been home all that much, which explains my lack of blogginess. I've simply been unable to form coherent thoughts while sitting at a computer; perhaps this is a result of my denial of the loss of over six years worth of data. But I'm getting ahead of myself, as I will begin my full assault on the IBM DeathStar later in the week.
I suppose I should begin on Thursday, as I never really talked about how much fun I had at the Pat McGee show in Hoboken. It wasn't quite as great as the night before in Brooklyn, but seeing them play an entirely acoustic set is always a treat. We saw Alison sing backup on Shine, which nearly made me cry. That was followed by Ceamelodic, which nearly made me fall down. And Amy saw PMB for the first time with Hero, her favorite song, as an encore. She's surely hooked.
Friday saw the area hit by the worst storm since Floyd, causing Amanda to arrive an hour late. All was well however, and she and I went to The Mall to see Lilo and Stitch. While not the greatest Disney movie ever, it combined just the right amounts of cute and funny to take its place among my top movies of the summer. Amanda and I then spent the remainder of the evening playing hockey and perusing my high school yearbook.
Saturday was a beach day. Dan, Amanda and I drove to Seaside Heights for Waterworks, the boardwalk, and swimming (and burning, as the IR cameras made startingly clear at the Bronx Zoo yesterday). On our way home, we stopped in Red Bank for a visit to The Stash. I spent too much money on Loki's Tshirt and Quiver. Returning home, we showered and went back to The Mall for dinner and toys. Afterward, we watched Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (and six of the six billion deleted sequences) at home.
Original plans called for yesterday to be spent in the hallowed halls of the Museum of Natural History, but exhibit closures convinced us to patronize the Bronx Zoo instead. I hadn't been there since eighth grade, and forgot how incredibly huge it is. In the seven hours we spent there, we did not manage to complete it. A fun time was had by all, though, including Amy and Toni, who tagged along with us.
Dinner last night consisted of Italian Dressing Chicken, corn, and fries, followed by Yellow Cake with Chocolate Icing. Shortly afterward, Amanda had to be going. Sad, but not really, as school starts in about a month (ugh....) and we three shall be together again.
