Internet Telephony Lives
Two entries in one day about work. What's up with me?
My main project for the last couple days has been getting the new toy to work. The theory is, we are in the IP industry (at least, on the periphery). There is no reason that we should be paying the fees we do every month for our daily phone calls to our teleport in Miami. So we won't.
The main problem facing us (me) as I tried to set everything up is that we're on a cable modem and behind a Win2k router. Not pretty. But I worked through it, reading obscure Cisco references and old posts to comp.dcom.voice-over-ip. Today, I placed a call that went from the phone, through the Win2k router, out the cable modem, over the Internet, through the gateway in Miami, onto a T1, and back to Woodcliff Lake by route of the POTS. I am so cool, I can't even hang out with myself.
