Inconvenience Charge
I'm planning on catching Insomnia with Karen at Grafton-Stovall tonight, and remembered that I was told at the last movie that I'm down to about US$2 on my FLEX account. There's a useful tool at the FLEX overview site for putting money on FLEX via credit card.
I filled out the form and was ready to hit submit, when I noticed a new "feature:"
Note: Deposits are subject to a 1.0% Convenience Fee which will be automatically posted to your credit card along with the deposit selected. (i.e. $10 deposit chosen = $10.10 billed to credit card account)
It is bad enough that printing on campus costs US$.05/page, but to force students in a pinch to pay an additional 10% is unconscionable. Knowing that every credit card transaction costs a flat-fee to the institution accepting them, I'm tempted to make several sub-$1 deposits to my FLEX account.
