My First Carbon Leaf Concert

The Improv Workshop went late tonight, so I didn't get to Mainstreet until close to 11:15, and Carbon Leaf was already well into Torn & Tattered. It didn't matter; I had a great time anyway.

I've been listening to Carbon Leaf for nearly a year now, and can hardly believe that I waited this long to see them live. Of course, it's not like I haven't tried before: the last time they came to town I had plans to go, but I got deathly ill (and was sick for a week afterward). Just the same, it was worth the wait. They are unlike any band I have ever seen (what other band could be described as a pop-bluegrass-Celtic-rock-jam band?).

If you haven't ever heard Carbon Leaf, download some tunes. You can't afford to miss them. They really are the best unsigned band in America.

  1. My first Carbon Leaf concert was a benefit concert for Mills E. Godwin High School in Richmond, VA. It was absolutely awesome. I was so taken by the musicianship. The band did an acapella song that had three part harmony that sent chills down my spine. I got the Ether and Electrified Porch Music CD after that and haven’t really stopped listening to it (its been about five months…)I’m definitely a fan now.
