Teaching Is Hard
A friend of mine (you know who you are) is a new first-grade teacher this year at a public school in Northern Virginia, and has been keeping me updated on her trials and travails through the first few weeks. Reading about her and reading about this teacher have really put the whole grade-school-teaching thing into perspective.
I have a lot of respect for you folks. I couldn't do it myself.

Thank you! And, it’s nice to know that someone out there is feeling the same way I am (anixey attacks, overwhelmed, underappreciated, etc.) Overall though, the good outweighs the bad. I almost got a tear in my eye when on the first day of school a student brought me an apple. That’s the real reason why I went to college!
