I had plans to go to UREC last night with Karen and Amanda around 7. We got there at 6:55, and UREC closed five minutes later. Why it needs to close early the night before a one-day "Fall Break" is beyond me, but what is even further beyond me is that there is no effort made to advertise this change. So I made plans to go this morning when it opened at (ugh) 11:30.

So I went to UREC with Dan today at 11:30. I parked in P Lot, which is normally a faculty lot, but seeing as there are no classes today, it was easily half empty (and there was virtually no one parked near me at 11:30), I didn't see it as a problem. After all, isn't this Fall Break?.

Dan and I actually had a really great workout. We wrangled a few elliptical machines for the first time in our lives and he got an introduction to the Cybex machines.

We exited UREC at 1:10 and proceeded to my car. Under my windshield was a ticket.

A motherfucking parking ticket. Issued at 12:55, when we were nearly finished with our workout.

Ostensibly every other department on campus closes down on Fall Break; why does Parking Services continue to make life hell for the people who support the University?

I have every intention of fighting this ticket as far as I can, but given Amanda's recent experiences with the appeal committee, I am not optimistic.
