Glavine A Met

Tom Glavine has signed with the Mets for US$35 million over three years with a vested option for the fourth year.

I'm worried about this deal. Tom Glavine is getting old, and who's to say how he'll age. On the other hand, he's never had injury trouble. In the same vein, I look at pitchers like Randy Johnson and Roger Clemens, who are both at least 60 by now, and they're at the top of their games.

I never thought I'd see the day that the Mets would trump the Braves at anything. Actually, I thought the Mets had trumped the Braves last offseason when they made the Alomar trade, then Atlanta went out and got Sheffield. So what could be coming down the pipe now?

Steve Phillips, now that you've gotten this squared away, sign Edgardo Alfonzo!
