Morons at the Movies
Anders Jacobsen: "She actually answered the phone(!!) and when a guy a seat or two to my right leaned over and discreetly asked her to get off the phone, she turned around, in rage, shouting loudly 'Shut the f#ck up or I will smash your f#cking face in.'"
I've had a few bad experiences with mobile phones at the movies, but the most violent I've ever gotten was during the first time I saw Spider-Man this past summer. Some asshole behind me had answered the phone (after letting it ring several times) and I stood up and said (fairly loudly), "Shut the fucking phone off." He gave me a look, but turned it off just the same.
Another important step in the war against assholes is to notify theater management anytime something goes wrong. And I'm not just talking about technical problems, either; movie theaters are in the service industry, meaning that it is their business to ensure that your experiece is as pleasant as possible. I've gotten my ticket price refunded for young children crying or kicking my chair throughout the movie, people talking, and for the mobile phone issue, as well. It pays to speak up.

Yeah; my cinema experience was entirely ruined, so I guess I should have asked for a refund. Good idea for next time (hopefully never…)
I’ve only once asked for a refund, and that was after watching an entire film with sound switching between mono and stereo every 2 seconds. VERY annoying…
