What You See Is What You Get

The redesign is "over." That is to say, I'm pretty satisfied with the way everything looks right now, but that doesn't mean I won't be unsatisfied with something in the near future. As always, I reserve the right to break everything and start all over again. Happily, I am using no browser-specific hacks, and it seems to look nice on IE6/Win, Mozilla, Opera 7, and Safari (thanks Dan). Any problems, post them in the comments. No IE5 problems, please; I just don't care.

I really enjoyed this live redesign process. Last time I did a redesign (October 2002), it was done behind-the-scenes, and I debuted everything on one day. I also made the mistake of retaining my old stylesheet, which made it substantially more bloated than it could have been. This time, I wiped everything and only styled what I needed to. Pretty cool.

A few new features: TrackBack will now be enabled on all future entries, and will be displayed using the incredibly nifty SimpleComments plugin. I was also inspired by Brad Choate to implement nicetitles on this page, though they may not stick around; I tend to do a lot of middle-clicking on links to open them in new tabs, and the titles stay displayed (blocking out anything behind them) if I do it here. We'll see; in any case, it's pretty now, so enjoy it.

  1. I’ll be honest.

I like everything except the blue link color.
