Jimmy Fallon = Mike Myers

Every time I watch Saturday Night Live, I become more convinced that Jimmy Fallon is, in fact, the second coming of Mike Myers. I haven't yet decided if this is a good or bad thing.

  1. Yeah, I’m going to have to go ahead and…yeah, disagree with ya there, AJ.

While I like Jimmy Fallon, he has a serious problem staying in character. And he always corpses (breaks out laughing during scenes) in Weekend Update.

I like him and all, but…compared to Mike Myers? I dunno about that.

  2. OK, discounting his technical lapses (which I, admittedly, don’t pay as much attention to), you have to admit that many of his characters, mannerisims, and accents greatly mirror Mike Myers’.

  3. I don’t have to admit that at all, and you can’t make me!

Regarding his ‘technical lapses’ - I don’t mean to pay attention to them, but they become so glaringly obvious that they start to draw attention away from whatever character he’s playing.

I won’t pretend to have watched as much of Jimmy Fallon as some, but I’m not sure you can compare the depth and breadth of his characters to those of Mike Myers. Can you be specific in which ones make you want to draw this comparison?

  4. No, I can’t. Let’s watch SNL next weekend, and I’ll point out what I think is Myers-esque.
