A Little Help Here?
I have functioned for the past three years without a printer fairly well, but I'm getting to the point where I am mightily inconvenienced by having to pay US$.05/page to print black text on campus. Given the rapid drop of prices on printers lately, and especially the decrease in price of multifunction printers/scanners, I've decided to dive in and get myself a printer.
I've narrowed the field to two: the Epson Stylus CX 5200 and the Canon Multipass F20. The two are comparable in price on Bizrate, and seem to have roughly the same features. I tend to favor the Epson because it uses separate color ink tanks, but the Canon has a slot for CF and SD cards, and I'm also looking at getting a digital camera in the medium- to long-term.
Does anyone have any experience with these models (or similar, circa US$200 products)? If so, let me know in the comments.
Later: Didn't get any responses, so I did a quick comparison of ink prices, and found the Epson came out ahead. Epson it is...
