Derek Jeter Bites The Dust

I was watching the Yankees/Blue Jays game, and I saw the play that put Jeter out of commission for at least six weeks (but possibly as long as the entire season). Those who call the play "dirty" probably didn't see it, because there's no way that Ken Huckaby could have decided, in the time that he had, to knee Jeter in the shoulder/head. It was a clean play by all accounts, save one, and it's the angle that I'm surprised hasn't been covered: why was Jeter sliding headfirst? Everybody knows that doing so greatly increases the possibilty of injury; isn't this just another example of the same?

  1. I saw that play, thanks to a last minute deal between YES and Cablevision. I had the same thought about the head-first slide. That sure looked painful!

  2. There have been four baseball entries in a row. Sir, I demand satisfaction! Post something to satisfy my hilarity quotient or my burgeoning technolust!

Alternatively, a picture drawn in the fabulous “Microsoft Paint” would more than suffice.

  3. People who slide head-first = DumbButts
