Another Semester In The Can
I'm done, again, for the sixth time. Two more semesters to go in my collegiate career. A brief recap of the classes I took this semester.
ECON 331 - Intermediate Microeconomics
I withdrew from this class halfway through the semester because a) I wasn't doing all that well, and b) I realized that I didn't really like economics as much as I thought I did. The concepts were cool, but the math was mind-numbing. Oh well.
ECON 270 - International Economics
This class was mostly conceptual, which is probably why I liked it. A kickass professor didn't hurt, either.
CS 345 - Software Engineering
At least I learned I don't want to be a software engineer. I think. I still haven't gotten over how unbelievably boring the text was (Sommerville's classic Software Engineering). The professor, who is also the department head, was a bright spot, as he had some kickass "war stories" from the real world.
CS 461 - Internetworking
Horribly, horribly disappointing: I didn't learn anything I didn't know from CS 460 until about two weeks from the end, and by then it was too late: I was mostly turned off to networking by this dull offering.
CS 462 - Network Application Development
Saving the best for last: Dr. Bernstein is, by far, the greatest professor at JMU and probably the best teacher I've ever had. Check out the syllabus and course notes and you'll begin to have an idea of the awesome stuff we covered. Thanks, Dr. Bernstein, for making this semester not a complete waste.
