A Theme for the Blogathon

Seems like everybody involved in the Blogathon has a theme or plan or some sure-fire way to fill 24 hours. I'd considered sitting around, watching movies, and just generally blowing my Saturday off like a good Saturday should, but I've come to my senses and decided that I, too, should have a theme.

I was inspired by High Fidelity last night to blog the top 50 records (OK, CDs) in my collection. It probably won't be in any particular order (because I'll probably be pulling the CDs off the shelves fairly haphazardly as I go), and I don't even make any guarantees that they'll be my top 50 CDs, but they will be, in some way or another, special to me. I'll write a few words about each one (probably more, in some cases) and provide a link to the Amazon product page for it (if available; some of my choices may be rarities that are unavailable through normal channels).

After all is said and done, I will personally donate 20% of the total dollar amount spent by my visitors at Amazon. So, if I can convince people to buy $200 worth of CDs I like from Amazon on Saturday, I'll throw $40 into the donation bin.

  1. AJ, I just want you to know that I’m reading Smoke & Mirrors at work right now, I just finished The Goldfish Pool, and it literally winded me. I’m going outside to smoke a cigarette and ponder the meaning of life. That is all.

  2. That is awesome to hear; glad you loved it!

    And you get cigarette breaks now? I thought you worked in a gulag.

  3. Since we’re already off-topic, AJ, I thought you might get a kick out of this.

  4. I should clarify. No, I don’t get cigarette breaks, but I do get a lunch break (sometimes) which is when I try to squeeze eight hours worth of smokes into forty minutes. It’s a rawkin’ good time and I’m sorry you are not here to see it.

    Rawkin’ = shitty
    Good = bad
    Sorry = not really all that sorry, come to think of it
