Notes on the Eve of the Blogathon

Tomorrow is the Big Day, when I will stay up for 24 hours writing about music that has affected my life for as long back as I can remember. I've nearly compiled the entire list of records that I will be writing about, and there are a few things about it that I feel I need to make clear.

  • Once again, this is not a "50 greatest" list. They're just 50 records that I have some memories of.
  • That said, there are some really great records on this list. But you've probably already heard of them, anyway.
  • There are also some really godawful records on this list, ones that I am embarassed to ever have owned. There's one in particular that makes me wonder how I ever wound up with the taste in music that I currently have. You'll know it when you see it.
  • I don't actually own some of these records. I own most of them, but some have been sold, or lost, or simply forgotten about (until now).

In the spirit of the blogathon, though I am preparing for the upcoming event, I will not be writing anything until tomorrow morning. While this may affect both the quantity and the quality of what I eventually write, it'll be a small price to pay for the street cred of actually blogging for 24 hours. That, and I don't want to spend tonight writing; I want to spend it partying at Johnny O's with friends.

Which could, come to think of it, also affect the coherency of what I write tomorrow.

There will also be at least one guest blogger tomorrow. If you want to join in the fun, email me and I'll hook you up with a login. If you want to write about some music and your memories of it, awesome; if not, that's cool too. I want to cultivate a bit of a party atmosphere here tomorrow.

Finally, on an entirely unrelated note, Mark and Dora are pregnant. Congrats!

Comments and Trackbacks

  1. I would contend that only Dora is pregnant.

  2. Ah, I would disagree. I think of being pregnant as something that a couple does.

Of course, there are situations where the man shoulders no weight or responsibility, in which case he is a fuckhead and only the woman is pregnant.

But in this case, I believe that Dora and Mark are pregnant.

    Comments from the OB Nurse?

  3. I have to agree with both of you. Actually, Dora is the only one that is really pregnant. However, when a couple conceives a child, and celebrate the pregnancy together, I think it’s a great thing to say that they are both pregnant. So, in this case, where it seems they are both celebrating, I’d say that Mark and Dora are pregnant. And I woudn’t be at all surprised if he experiences some morning sickness and gains a few pounds along the way.

  4. this is totally off topic, but I have to tell you that I think you have the coolest blog name ever. :-)

  5. I also believe that Mark & Dora are pregnant. Usually, when people are going to have a baby, the husband also says, “I’m having a baby” or “We’re having a baby.” I hardly ever hear someone who says, “My wife/name is having a baby.” But, everyone has their different opinions.
