Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Three Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Interestingly enough, I found about the Flecktones through my obsession with Dave Matthews Band, and my admiration of the Flecktones has outlasted my facination with DMB. I didn't know any of their records, however, so I went to Tower Records one day and just started looking around. When I couldn't find anything, I asked a random employee as he walked by, "Where can I find the Flecktones?" I got lucky, because this guy was a huge Flecktones fan, and took me back to the bluegrass room where he began extolling the virtues of each album.
He actually recommended Left of Cool as a good starting album, but it was out of stock. So, he hooked me up with Three Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, saying that it was pretty experimental, but his personal favorite. It never became my favorite, but it held my attention long enough to convince me to head back to Tower another day and pick up Left of Cool.

I have you to thank for the joy of the Flecktones, as I recall. We listened to “Left of Cool” whilst cutting class to go to the rest stop or bagel shop one day, and I was all like “WOW!” and you were all like “Yeah!” and I was all like “Who?” and you were all like “Flecktones, bitch.”
That dialogue was probably pretty accurate.
I think I may have said, “Flecktones, motherfucker!” but otherwise that was pretty close.
