Counting Crows - August and Everything After

Counting Crows - August and Everything AfterHeyhey, this is Dan; I'm guestblogging, too!

Sticking with the theme of albums, I'd like to hereby declare my love for "August and Everything After" by Counting Crows. This album was one of the first I ever bought when, early on my music-listening career, I signed up for the BMG Music Service and received eleven CDs for the price of one!

Also included in my selection were timeless classics such as Weezer's Blue album and probably some other timeless classics but I really have no recollection of what they were.

Anyway, I tore into my eleven new CDs when I received them and, upon listening to "August and..." I said "Pfooey," labeled it as "sucktastic" and didn't listen to it again for a number of years.

One day, bored, I took it off the shelf, dusted it off (this is just an expression, I keep my CDs dust-free as much as possible), popped it in the CD player, and I've spent pretty much every day since recognizing it as my favorite album, ever. I can vividly remember spending hours and hours with the CD on repeat, locked away in my room with the liner notes in front of me, memorizing the words and singing singing singing along.

To this day, I can't listen to "Anna Begins" without shivering.

Comments and Trackbacks

  1. An excellent, excellent CD. There are no Counting Crows CDs on my list, so I’m glad they got some recognition in this forum.

  2. Cheers. The other Counting Crows albums are also fabulous, but this is the one that still amazes me to this day.
