Pat McGee Band - General Admission

Pat McGee BandDuring my insane Dave Matthews Band obsession phase, I was a member of the nancies listserv. I can't find any information on it now, so I assume it's since been dismantled, but it was complete chaos: 100+ posts a day, neverending flame wars, and countless newbies getting bitchslapped by the more senior assholes on the list. In spite of all the noise, however, I started hearing about a guy named Pat McGee and his band, Pat McGee Band. On one trip to Tower, I picked up General Admission on a whim. I listened to it a few times, but didn't really get into it until I saw Pat McGee Band play live for the first time, on May 6, 2000 at Irving Plaza. Since then, I've seen them play over 15 times, including a four day road trip where I followed them up and down the east coast.

I never really considered Pat McGee Band my "favorite band," but they came close, and did a lot to further my appreciation for and knowledge of live music.

  1. I think, because of you, I’ve seen PMB play more than any other band.

They’re a great live act, and I highly recommend - to anyone stumbling in from the blogathon page - seeing them.
