R.E.M. - New Adventures in Hi-Fi
This is the first record that I recall really getting excited about before its release. According to Amazon, it came out September 10, 1996. All I remember is that it was a Tuesday, and Aunt Sue was over for dinner before bowling. I was so desperate to get this record that I convinced her to drive me to Sam Goody before dinner. We got home, ate dinner, and I spent the rest of the night listening to R.E.M.'s latest (and, in some ways, greatest) creation.
When the high school band went to Canada later that year, this was the record that I listened to every time we got on a bus.
I also believe that this record is the reason I pronounce 'Fidelity' with a long I.

Comments and Trackbacks
I bought this album at the same used CD store in Westwood that I mentioned earlier, and I’ve never ever regretted it.
Not like my purchase of “Alternative Summer” which has songs by NOBODY GOOD that all SOUND THE SAME.
Sigh.
