Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind

Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind The soundtrack of my life during the summer of 1998. I doubt if a day went by when I did not listen to this record from start to finish. I'd heard Semi-Charmed Life on the radio in the spring and was instantly hooked; within a few days, I discovered Napster, and it became the first song I ever downloaded. I learned to play electric guitar almost exclusively on Third Eye Blind songs, as they were also the first band for which I scoured the internet for tabs.

Sadly, as big a fan as I was, I never saw Third Eye Blind perform in any venue besides their Saturday Night Live appearance. They actually played at JMU that fall, and I never let Karen hear the end of it for being able to see them without me.

I can't express how disappointed I was when Blue came out a few years later.

  1. We karaoke-d “Semi-Charmed Life” at the cast party for Grease at the firehouse, as I recall.

And Don McLean’s “American Pie,” too!
