Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
I hated rap for a long, long, long time. I suppose I never gave it a chance. My brother lent me his copy of The Marshall Mathers LP when I asked to see what the big fuss was about (because it was pretty critically-acclaimed).
While there is admittedly some seriously fucked-up shit (technical term) on this record, there are some other songs that are very powerful. Yes, they shift blame to anyone and everyone but Eminem himself, but isn't that his audience? Isn't that how all kids feel as they're growing up?
And some of the songs are just plain fun.

This is another CD I remember fondly from driving around in your car during high school and consistently missing chamber choir.
Yeah, I hated rap for a while too, but my first foray into the genre was Straight Outta Compton. No foolin.
