Splender - Halfway Down The Sky

Splender - Halfway Down The Sky When I saw Pat McGee Band for the first time at Irving Plaza, I saw ads for the upcoming Vertical Horizon concert later that month. The support act was listed as "Splender." I thought it was a typo.

I never really was a fan of I Think God Can Explain, mostly because I didn't think the chorus made any sense. I mean, the story goes that they recorded it as I Think I Can Explain, and a recording exec transposed the "I" to "God," and thought that it'd sell better that way. Maybe so, but still...

I really like the rest of the record. It's nothing groundbreaking, but it seems like I can listen to it time and time again, and it hasn't gotten old yet. Albums like that are rare.

  1. That Irivng show was the first time I saw Splender, and though I agree that the album is nothing particularly spectacular, it’s got a solid rock-out quality that I enjoy.
