The Who's Tommy - Original Broadway Recording
I was going to put up the actual Who recording of Tommy, but the truth is that I heard this version well before I ever heard the original version.
The band in Woodcliff School (while I was there, at least) goes to a show every year, and Tommy was the show in sixth grade. I wanted to have an idea what it would sound like, so I went with mom to the River Vale library and checked out this soundtrack. I learned all the words and all but sang along with the show once I was there.
Tommy remains one of my all-time favorite musicals, and I was incredibly fortunate to be part of a senior project in high school where I got to actually perform Pinball Wizard. Thanks, Julia.

Heyhey, we had a similar middle school trip, but we saw Showboat.
Also, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (the first of my…I don’t know…eighteen times now of seeing it - my sister’s played the narrator twice, you see).
We saw Showboat in seventh grade, and How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (starring Matthew Broderick and what’s-her-name-from-Sex-In-The-City) in eighth grade.
Wow, I really am tired.
Sarah Jessica Parker. Guh.
