Will Wilson and AJ Schuster - The Wilson Family Reunion
There's way more involved in this particular record than I could ever hope to write here. The short story:
At our massive family reunion several summers ago, Uncle Willie was asked to write a theme song. He had one day and, since I brought my guitar along, he enlisted my help. We drove off a few blocks, found some deserted-looking woods, and started writing.
He had most of the chorus already figured out, and a nifty bridge, so we focused on the verses. He wrote most of the first, I wrote most of the second. He wrote the music, I worked on the harmonies. We performed it that night, and everybody cried.
Some weeks later, we got together with an old friend of his and recorded it with a "full band" (i.e. lots of overdubs). I had no idea that studio recording (even home studio recording) could be so stressful, but it came out awesome, and of everything I've done in my life, this CD (a single, literally) is one of the things I'm proudest of.
It's not available anywhere but here. I have a box of extras taking up space (not that that's a bad thing), and I will send a copy to anyone who wants one if you donate ten or more dollars. I probably should have posted this first and attached it to the top of a page somewhere, but it is what it is. Donate US$10, get a copy of my most memorable recording of all time.

Comments and Trackbacks
Heyhey, I donated $10 already, can I have one? I only have it in MP3 format, but I’d dig having the CD!
Woot!
Also, is this the last entry? Did you fall asleep before 9AM? For shame!
Honestly, though, congratulations! Staying up for 24 hours itself is a chore, but blogging through the entire ordeal is amazing! You rock, Cletus.
I look forward to blogathoning with ya next year!
Didn’t fall asleep early; wanted this entry not to scroll. Guess I should have commented or something, but I certainly wasn’t asleep.
And thanks. It was not exactly easy, but certainly, in retrospect, worth it.
It’s also one of things that you’ve done that I’m proudest of, too.
