Blogathon: The Aftermath
I never realized what an impact being awake for 24 consecutive hours could have. This is how I described it to Amanda last night:
While bowling tonight, I was hit by a truck. Not a literal truck, mind you, because trucks are not allowed in the bowling alley. A metaphorical truck.
This metaphorical truck was 80 feet high and weighed 4000 metric tons. This metaphorical truck had huge spikes on the grill to ensure complete skewerage of anything it ran into. This truck was travelling 17 times the speed of light.
And it ran right into me.
I am more tired now than I even came close to at any point this weekend.
I was not exaggerating.
Just the same, looking back at the event, I can't help but be proud. I made it to my goal of raising US$100, I had a great time, and I'm already looking forward to and making plans for Blogathon 2004. I should have a much longer lead time next year, and I'll be able to prepare (perhaps) a more elaborate or appropriate theme for my charity, and perhaps I'll even be able to arrange some sort of get-together for local blogathonners (I can dream). If you donated, thank you; I couldn't have done it without you.
Update: Book Aid accepts donations in Pounds Sterling only. A currency converter, for your convenience.
