Branching Out
Starting today, I begin an exciting adventure into a medium with which I have very little experience: photography. I got myself a slightly used Minolta DiMage F300 and a 256 MB memory card, and I'm ready to start going nuts. Hopefully, I'll be able to update my pictures section more often, and maybe I'll get creative like Dan's (currently offline) Obfuscation Inc.
For now, though, I'm just going to revel in my geekhood and play with my new toy.

If the F300 turns out to be anything like the F100 (and I’m guessing that it probably will), you’ll definitely want to get used to manual focus in macro mode, especially in non-optimal lighting conditions.
Also, white balance is your friend, especially in manual mode.
