Today is Grey Tuesday
If you haven't heard of The Grey Album by now, you've probably lived under a rock for the past few weeks, but here's the short story: a DJ takes the a capella version of Jay-Z's The Black Album, runs it over selected musical bits of The Beatles' The White Album, and releases a couple thousand copies. EMI, who own the copyright on the White Album, send out letters to everyone distributing The Grey Album in an attempt to make it disappear. A community springs up in an attempt to protest this gross perversion of copyright and make it available on as many individual sites as possible.
I've listened to The Grey Album a few times through, and it is really, really cool. I'd have loved to have hosted a copy today, but there's no way I could have afforded the bandwidth. Visit one of the sites listed above and download a copy; it's well worth it.
