See Ya!

John Ashcroft is resigning. I think it’s safe to celebrate this awesome news for a couple days, then start worrying about who his replacement will be.

Ashcroft writes in his letter of resignation, “The objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved.” If this is accurate (and if anyone would know such a thing, it would be Ashcroft), doesn’t that mean that the war on terror is over? Can we stop being scared now? Can we stop stocking up on duct tape and plastic sheeting? And wouldn’t it have been nice to know this information before last Tuesday?
