I Just Got Things Done
I’ve been reading the awesomely awesome 43 Folders since just a few weeks after its inception, and I’ve been slowly integrating some of its small hacks into my daily routine. A couple weeks ago I read Getting Things Done for the first time and vowed that I would attain a “Mind Like Water.”
I spent $100 at Staples on Saturday on a labeller and other office supplies, and then spent the entire afternoon reorganizing all my Stuff in our apartment. At the end, I had several lists (handwritten) and a slightly clearer mind. By the end of the weekend, my Next Actions list had been shortened considerably—it was mostly niggling things that took less than ten minutes to do. I was impressed.
I just spent several hours at work pounding away at a project that has been hanging over my head for literally months. Before this weekend, it was still kind of amorphous and I was a little bit scared to start it. With some reflection and some serious “What is the Next Action?” question-asking, the project has been laid to rest. It’s Done.
This GTD thing is a godsend.
