Carcassonne plus River Expansion Pack!

We played Carcassonne again last night, this time adding in the “Free River Expansion Pack!” included in the main box. The river pack adds 12 land tiles, making the whole game a little bigger, but it also serves as another farm border, making the Final Farm Reckoning even harder to predict.

It seems to me that there’s a lot of luck involved in the placement of farmers in Carcassonne. Once you play a farmer, you lose the piece for the rest of the game, so it hurts to play too many too early. If you don’t play any, you run the chance of a significant number of cities being supplied exclusively by your opponent.

Amanda and I split 1-1 again last night. I think the pattern will continue until I stop writing about my strategies here.
