The New Estrada Family
Jeanine married Rockiss on Saturday. Given my age, you’d expect me to talk about how weird it is to go to the wedding of one of my best friends while we’re only 23, but I’m probably not allowed to talk that way having been married myself this past summer.
The wedding was at the Cathedral Basilica in Newark, and while I was prepared for a long, drawn-out ceremony, it was actually a relatively laid-back affair (especially for a Cathedral), and very nicely done. It’s the first time I’ve been to a Catholic Mass since I decided I didn’t want to be Catholic anymore; I was happy to be there to congratulate Jeanine and Rockiss, who looked awesome and awesome together.
The reception was around the block from my parents’ house at the Woodcliff Manor, and I took advantage of the party to try all sorts of food and drink I’d never consumed before. Turns out that I like peas (still in their pods!), pink penne sauce, bruschetta, and scallops wrapped in bacon (though I imagine that I’d like pretty much anything wrapped in bacon). Saturday night was also the first night I tried a White Russian (inspired by The Dude, drunkenbatman, and the groom), and I have a new favorite drink.
The party was great: excellent food, a DJ who both sang and didn’t play any horribly obnoxious music, fun people, and excellent food. I was happy to see and talk to several people whom I hadn’t seen since high school. And have I mentioned how great Jeanine and Rockiss looked together?
Jeanine and Rockiss did a hell of a job putting together a really wonderful, traditional (and yet not overbearing), and fun wedding. It was an honor to be there.
