NBC's Embarassing Olympics Coverage

By now, NBC’s shoddy coverage of the Winter Olympics is old news. For whatever reason, though, I have made an active effort to avoid results and retain some excitement in NBC’s nightly clusterfuck primetime presentations. My daily visits to ESPN.com have been greatly reduced, to say the least.

Curling has become our second-favorite on-ice sport in the past two weeks, and we’ve (mostly) enjoyed CNBC’s coverage (except for the hyper-annoying Fred Roggin). Watching the gold medal womens’ match last night (Sweden made a sweet shot for a double in an extra end to win the gold), with thirty minutes to go, a commercial cut to a “News Break” segment where—and I’m not kidding here—the anchor told us who won the figure skating competition that was to air on NBC only half an hour later.

Amanda and I are by no means figure skating fans, but we had become at least vaguely interested in the outcome (not least because of the interesting scoring changes), and would probably have watched last night had it not been for the inexplicable spoilage coming from NBC itself.
